Like many other variations of Sherlock Holmes, James has the keen observational skills of the character. It is always happening, and while he is polite enough to not flaunt it unless it is relevant, his observations help him to better understand things.
This link is a clip from Revelations Part 1 and it is a good starting point of just what exactly he can do and what he picks up on. Here as well shows what he can see from the environment around him (and it is only a small part of that clip), this clip is from Revelations Part 2. A little later on this clip also from Revelations Part 2 shows how keen an eye he has, to adjust to a changed environment and is a little further on from that first clip.
What I need from you is for you to fill out the following form, and reply to this so I know what James can pick up on. And if you guys are confused how to fill this out just, shove all the things in the details/other info section, I'll sort it out.

Tells: Body language is all over the place, depending on what act he is putting on at the time. Any tell he sees has a 50/50 chance of being deliberate. Although he DOES have a habit of becoming extra saccharine and childish right before spring especially evil traps.
Details: Clothing tends to be more formal then most children. He prefers sporty jackets or pullovers. Conan wears oversized glasses that he never takes off, but if someone were to get hold of them they would discover that not only are they clear glass, but they have been altered with a number of technology upgrades, including a radio tracker, night vision, telescopic zooming, and bulletproof glass. His bowtie is a voice changer, his belt dispenses soccer balls and his shoes generate electrical current.

British accent. Shaggy brown hair and serious grey eyes that look too old for his face. He has a shiny hairless burn scar on his right forearm. It is in the shape of a perfect circle quartered by a cross. Fluent in all languages.

-Pale and soft skin of a noble woman. She was born in the South, but she’s spent the last twenty or so years in the North, so she’s also very used to cold.
-Has rather major scars on the joints at the base of her fingers on both her hands from the incident with Bran’s attempted assassination. This undoubtedly affects their movement and James would probably notice that they are stiffer than they should be.
-As far as tells related to behavior- she’s actually pretty good at masking them. The standard avoiding eye contact with dishonest/discomfort applies, but she will also stare people down if she needs to.

-Emotionally traumatized. She hides it well and can, in fact, appear as something of an ice queen, but Cat has been through a lot in canon and is very likely in the midst of a rather deep depression.

-Hard, tough, to the point: Unlike Galadriel, she has no patience for mind games and beating around the bush.

-Mama bear. Has five kids. Fiercely protective, but none of them are here

-Muscular like whoa. She *is* a warrior.
-Probably a quite a few small scars, but nothing big (despite all logic), Calloused hands from wielding a sword constantly.
-Xena is an excellent liar, so there are few obvious tells.
-Tends to slouch, but carries herself with confidence, almost cockiness. More prone to shoulder punching than hugs. Has difficulty expressing deep emotions. Acts like she doesn’t give a fuck, but she really does. If you catch her on a sentimental topic, she slouches more, is quieter, less likely to joke.

-ALWAYS in her skimpy armor, carrying a sword, her chakram, and a breast knife unless stated otherwise.

-Said atoner complex is completely deserved. She could legit be tried for war crimes and used to be known as a “Destroyer of Nations.” This has shaped her opinions on…everything ever.
-Ancient Greek but knows all sorts of Greco-Roman figures and even some from the Bible. Fjslkjgla Her canon is an anachronism stew. Also is completely used to gods dropping in. Has issues/sexual tension with Ares. It’s a weird situation.

Tells:
- Zelos is a very practiced actor, so there are no single indicators to tell he's lying unless you can read his heartbeat. He lies very frequently, the size of the lie varies depending on the situation. Only when he's caught off guard does the lie become easier to see- which tends to be only when someone shows that they CAN read him. I will indicate which lies he says are possible for James to catch.
- His default expression when dealing with people is a smile. He has maaany different smiles, but most of them are rarely sincere. To an observer like James, it might be easy to tell which smiles are real and which aren't.
- He speaks with hand gestures a lot. I'll probably mention each one in threads, but i will say his most prominent in canon is he crosses his arms across his chest when he's uncomfortable by something.
- Things start glowing around Zelos when he does a spell. That's easy enough to spot. In the very rare case he decides to use his angel abilities, his hand goes straight for the crystal on his chest.
- Has super hearing and sight thanks to being an angel. He's gotten really good at hiding this fact, but there are still indicators: he avoids v. loud sounds, he's hard to sneak up on, he wears reading glasses only when he's in the Dead Zone or depowered, he notices details the others overlook- etc. Blow a dog whistle in his ear and he will cut you.
- He's an observer too, though he lacks sherlock scan. He gives an air of someone who doesn't care, but at the same time he is always paying attention. He will often choose in person interaction over journal for this reason - harder to read people over the journal.
Details:
- Clothes tend to be very expensive in quality. The kid grew up rich and he has no intention of wearing cheap clothes.
- He speaks in a casual way, but he was raised a noble and went to college. So even with the casual, his language tends to be pretty grammatically correct and big words will slip in there sometimes.
- Noble pale skin. It's very smooth and not scarred despite being a fighter because someone abuses his healing powers for shallow reasons.
- Muscular and very graceful. With fighting and movement, it's describe he practically moves like a dancer.

Tells:
- Another smiler. He's easier to read than Zelos though. He mostly smiles not to make people worry about things that are bad.
- Doesn't lie that often, but he can be rather good at it if he must.
- Incredible poker face when he tries. He rigs people at cards all the time. I don't know his exact mechanisms and he's unlikely to do it to the castle residents.
- He sounds increeedibly awkward or nervous half the time when he's just having conversations with people. He stutters, says a lot of things like "um..." out of habit. Ironically if he's in a horrible situation like a battle or dealing with a medical emergency- all that awkwardness goes away.
- Very much an introvert. He avoids crowds and will often keep to himself a lot at parties. Yeah. he's fun like that.

- 5'8 1/2"
- 123lbs (pretty underweight, he might show slight signs of malnourishment despite being able to eat a horse's weight in food.)
- White hair (Yes, all of it is white. No dye done here)
- While he keeps his hair fairly short (at most a small pony tail), it is noticeable that the style of cut or the way he groomed it...probably changes at least once a month. To explain why he has 234323 hairstyles in canon, my headcanon explanation is that it's a self-conscious thing. He's super self-conscious about his appearance, and he expresses this by fidgeting with his hair and attempting to change it to look more "normal". It...doesn't work well because it doesn't change the fact he looks weird, but it makes him feel better for a bit so he keeps trying.
- Silver-gray eyes (said to be slightly near-sighted but doesn't wear glasses. Might be seen squinting at stuff more than someone with 20/20 vision but at most all he'd need is reading glasses)
- Scar on face. I don't care if it looks like paint or tattoos in the art, it's a scar. It's an older scar from when he was a kid.
- Slim, athletic build. Similar to an acrobat or gymnast.
- Pale pale pale. He's spent most of his life outside, so I'm sure there's a slight tan. Buuut being English? Yeah, not that much of a noticeable tan.
- British accent, but to the trained ear- it's weird due to him trying to emulate Mana. Most of the time he tries to sound like a proper, classy British accent- and after 10 years of practice he's pretty good. However his original accent I headcanon to be a country-side accent (for sanity, hilarity and for Ena, we headcanon northern English) and it's rather thick on top of it. This slips into his speech sometimes when he's angry, very irritated, surprised or among trusted friends (okay, with House it will be the first three)
- Clothing, he alternates between the more formal 19th century clothes you see in canon and very comfy clothes like hoodies and jeans. The main things to note are 1) Always wearing gloves of some sort. 2) almost always wears long sleeves or has a jacket that he can quickly cover up with. He only seems to wear short sleeves when he's in situations where he doesn't have time to be self-conscious (training, battles, etc). 3) Clothing isn't badly treated, but not super well treated either. He'll leave buttons undone, his tie is sometimes loose, wrinkles aren't uncommon, etc. He's more concerned with not standing out than looking prim and proper.
- Oh and he'll never wearing his Exorcist uniform. Since you know, at his canon point he's kinda...fired.
- under his clothes he always wears a gold chain necklace with a purple gem that glows just slightly. It's magic and for the sake of resisting mind control- since Griffith of Berserk is a big fat douche.
- Has some nasty looking chest scars. He earned an additional small one right on the sternum that's about a golden dollar in size- gray skin and that sort of deal. This is what happens when you try to experiment with Cruxis Crystals to solve your problems.
- He doesn't slouch. That would take away inches from his height.
- His stepping is pretty light. You have to be light on your feet to move like he does.
- Wears boots for practicality reasons. Has yet to be won over by sneakers. Since you only see his feet...once in canon during a hospital stay, I'm headcanoning that he's just accustomed to wearing shoes all the time unless he's in bed or will be home all day.
- If you do see his feet, while they aren't horribly disfigured they aren't the greatest. In fact they probably look typical of a guy who spent most of his life walking place to place in craptastic 19th century shoes that poor people could afford in all weather conditions.
- His teeth aren't that great either, since what is a dentist? At least a couple broken or missing molars. Also Hoshino likes to draw him with larger than average canines. idek.
- Left arm is gross and blood red in color. There is actually no blood vessels in here- so no pulse. Nerves are in there however. In of the cross thing on the back of his hand, there's a green glow unless he's in the Dead Zone or w/e. Oh yeah, and it's made up of a substance that the only way to cause it any damage without using powerful dark or light magics? Is to take a diamond tip jackhammer to it. And that would just dent it.
His right hand is normal, and his fingernails are kept cut short on his normal hand (You'd probably need an Exorcist with Innocence nail clippers to get his left hand nails). Like his feet, callouses and evidence of a life with a lot of hard labor.

Tells: She's fairly easy to read as well, especially for someone like James. Pretty much anything is game. She's terrible at hiding things. Generally, she's pretty upbeat, so when she's upset, she's a bit more subdued, quiet, her body language is more curled. If she's REALLY upset, she'll be hitting the alcohol and then it's pretty much free reign what you can get out of her.
Details: She's an inbetween dresser, meaning she can do fancier things, but she tends to dress casually, especially here where she has no one to impress.
Canon Information: a Jenna wiki page for you. If you have questions, I'd be happy to answer. Her canon point is 1x22 and she knows a lot that she shouldn't at this canon point.

Tells: Oh boy. The first thing he can probably tell from her is that she radiates power, magical power. She also radiates fear about said power. Willow is still working through a lot of issues about her magic and James should be able to easily figure that out. It's not like she keeps it a secret to begin with, but she does give little clues, like looking away, a twitch of her muscles, that sort of thing. She used to be pretty meek, so at times she'll come off like that, but she's much more confident in general now and she'll step up when she has to and it's easy to tell when she's getting angry. Her magic is shown when she starts concentrating. It's similar to when someone stares off into space, only she's very focused about it. If she's working on a powerful dark spell, her eyes will turn fully black.
Details: Um, she generally wears an assortment of clothes, some of them odd outfits, but they seem to work for her. She expresses a lot in her eyes, head motions, and hands. She talks with her hands, so he can probably pick up minute details from her body language.

-Not sure how he'd find out exactly BUT Deadpool has a suicidal streak a mile wide. Personal safety never even enters his head.
-He tries to keep the whole 'bisexual' thing on the downlow. when his boyfriend is around though it's pretty much impossible for him not to be obvious. Ah love~
-Super protective of the people he cares about. The easiest way to push his buttons or get his attention is mention his friends.

Over 2000 years old, and 'dead' (the canon is a little weird and vague about this, as new souls can be born in soul society, which he is assumed to have been.) In his own world he is not visible to normal humans, but for Para, he is.

- There are precious little physical tells with his spell casting. If it's a more complex spell he tends to get a more distant look in his eyes and is obviously not really seeing anything around him. Very physically vulnerable in this state.
- He's nearly blind in his right eyes (the blue one). He will be startled if anyone approaches him on that side. He habitually walks with his right side near a wall to prevent this.
- The fingers on his hands are slightly stiff and twisted because they were broken and hastily healed via magic/improperly set. He does have full use of them, but he has difficulty gripping things very hard.
Details:
- His normal clothing is styled close to late eighteenth century Earth (fancy, heavily embroidered coats, waistcoat, cravat, breeches), though after a year in Paradisa he inserts some modern styles occasionally. Nearly always fairly formal.
- Has two prominent streaks of white in his hair. Probably notable for him only being in his early 30's.
- He used to wear large, heavy rings on all ten fingers. This fact may be hard to notice since he hasn't worn his rings in over a year now.
- He has a very precise way of walking like most nobles, but this has a mechanical, stiff quality to it (like memorized dance steps) because he was trained to carry himself that way.
Canon Information: There really aren't any good resources for this series. The best info on the series is the tropes pages, which is sad, but you probably don't want to be linked there. Just ask if you need anything.

Rydia is pretty much an open book, when it comes to emotions. Bottling things up just isn't her nature, at all. Lying almost never happens, just because she doesn't even think to be anything but bluntly honest. If she does, averting her gaze and fidgeting relentlessly will be signs of it.
As for magic, this is what happens when she's summoning, using white magic (in the icon), or black. It's pretty flashy and not at all subtle.

Yep, the green hair is natural.
Rydia's about seven years old. She often carries a rod with a blue crystal on top, but aside from that has pretty much nothing in the way of personal possessions--no mementos or whatnot.
Also, it will be easily noticeable how well composed she is in times of danger and from there it's not hard to guess that she's dealt with a lot of it in her life.
